Projects for refugee children and adolescents from Ukraine

Starting in the summer of 2022, we will be running two projects for refugee children (ages 4–9) and teenagers (ages 15–18) from Ukraine.

For elementary school-aged children, there is a storytime session once a week. We read children’s books in German and Ukrainian. Afterward, there are various activities related to the stories: crafts, painting, or role-playing games.

We have a mentoring program for young people. German and Ukrainian youth are paired up. The German mentors help their Ukrainian mentees with questions about life in Berlin. The Berlin youth have the opportunity to get involved and learn about a new culture. The young people meet at least once or twice a week and participate in sports or other recreational activities together.
